Portrait Photography

I enjoy taking photographs of people. Not just at events, but also in a more intimate one-on-one situation, surrounded by some of Cape Town’s breathtaking natural environments and urban settings. Like with event photography, my portrait photography approach is to capture natural moments without posing my subject too much. Some direction may be given when needed, but I try to stay away from cliches and cheesiness. Portrait photography doesn’t need to be set up and stiff. I prefer to observe how a person interacts with a particular environment and look for interesting angles and light. This is my recipe for allowing art to happen – with subject, environment and photographer being equal participants.
