I was invited by Anthony Mayer to participate in an interactive cooking experience by Fork It at Homebrew Studios in Montague Gardens, where the South African TV show Kokkedoor is filmed. Very pleasantly surprised by how fun cooking in teams can be, we prepared a variety of Italian recipes – including homemade gnocchi, ravioli and pasta as well as a variety of salads and other delights – while our glasses were regularly topped up with wine. The theme was “Italian Made Easy” and at the end of the evening, we all sat together at a long table, indulging in each other’s proud culinary creations. It’s easy to make new friends over food – especially when there’s enough wine to go around – and we all had firm plans to meet up in the future, before we knew that corona would confine us all to our homes. Once the crisis is over, I highly recommend joining a Fork It cooking experience. Even if you’ve never been into cooking, it’s worth it just for the good food and wine, and you might just uncover an undetected passion. Here are some highlights of the evening, in photos.
